It plays a big role in how vTiger CRM is aligned with business practices in a company. The most recent development in vTiger CRM introduces a powerful enhancement to “Date” field conditions in a workflow. This enhancement is the Ignore Weekend functionality.
This feature allows users to create workflows that ignore weekends whenever a date is being calculated. This works with a range of user-defined dates and time frames including follow-up dates, due dates, and dates that prompt and renew time-sensitive action.
Why This Matters:
Weekends are non-working days in a lot of business cases especially in B2B and customer service. The vTiger workflows functionality calculated every day the same including Saturday and Sunday. This often resulted in alerts being missed because they were set to non-working days.
The new “Ignore Weekend” option brings date calculations closer to real-world expectations, where only business days count.
Where It Applies: Supported Conditions:
The “Ignore Weekend” feature works with workflows to calculate dates with specific relevant conditions. You will find the checkbox available when configuring the following conditions:
- Less than days ago
- More than days ago
- In less than (e.g., trigger before a future date)
- In more than
- Days ago
- Days later
As shown in this screenshot:

How to Use the Ignore Weekend Feature:
- Navigate to CRM Settings > Workflow.
- Select or create a workflow that involves a Date field.
- In the condition builder, choose one of the supported date comparison options.
- You’ll now see a checkbox labeled “Ignore Weekends”.
- Tick this checkbox to exclude Saturdays and Sundays from the date difference calculation.
Example Use Case:
Using the “In less than 3 days” condition and activating “Ignore Weekends”, you can execute a workflow 3 business days prior to a due date.
If today were a Friday and the due date were next Wednesday, the condition would still be accurate because the system would ignore the weekend.
Notes:
- This feature only affects Date field conditions within workflows.
- It does not alter date fields in the record itself — only how the workflow evaluates them.
- Useful for industries with 5-day workweeks, like finance, logistics, and professional services.
Final Thoughts:
vTiger’s new feature “Ignore Weekends” for Workflows has been designed keeping in mind day-time only operations in a business environment.
This new feature decreases the number of workflow trigger false positives. Hence, it has improved the harmony between automation and real world calendars.
If you are in need of time sensitive workflows, you will benefit from the new advanced date logic feature.
